Michael Wasley feels great to be on pro snooker tour: 2012 World Snooker Q School
Finish of the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) produced 12 new rookies on the face of the 2012-13 Snooker Season tour including England’s Michael Wasley who earned his place in the professional tour performing brilliantly in the 2012 World
Snooker Q School Event 3.
He defeated Scotland’s Fraser Patrick by the score line of 4-3 in the quarter-final encounter at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. Wasley surged into the quarter-final stage of the second event but failed to qualify and lost to Welshman Daniel Wells
by 4-3.
Winning the tour spot from Q School was indeed a huge success for the Englishman as he will now be able to prove his talent to the world and make his way to the pro standings. However, he will face some of the best snooker minds during his run in the recent
snooker season. Wasley is quite happy and thrilled with his pro circuit place and believes he can perform well during his campaign.
During his interview with On Cue, Wasley said, “Winning the match that sealed my place at Q School was a great feeling. It was extra special because Paul Mount, who has given me so much support, was there watching. Turning professional has been a dream of
mine for a long time but when you're younger I don't think you appreciate just how difficult it is to do.”
He added, “I'm just looking forward to being part of it all. I played in between six and 12 tournaments last season, but now I'll be playing lots more.”
He had a great start in the 2012-13 Snooker Season as he reached the second round of the 2012 Wuxi Classic qualifying session where he crashed out at the hands of Thailand’s Passakorn Suwannawat by 5-1. He tried his luck again in the qualifiers of the 2012
Australia Goldfields Open but failed to book his spot in the initial round as he was defeated by Nigel Bond in Round 3.
It will be interesting to see what type of impact Wasley can make in the upcoming snooker season, as he will be looking to put in a good performance and compete with the top players.
