Michael Weiss seizes Men’s 400m freestyle gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Iowa City
Michael T Weiss of Wisconsin Aquatics seized gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on day three of the USA Swimming Sectionals at the University of Iowa Aquatic Center in Iowa City on Saturday, July 21.
The 21-year-old Weiss demonstrated his astonishing efforts in the eight-lap freestyle event. He remained dominant over his fellow swimmers from the start of the event and emerged on the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his persistent efforts, Weiss enjoyed a comfortable lead over his strongest challenger and tapped the finishing wall for first position with the timing of 3 minutes and 58.89 seconds.
He was followed by his teammate, Tyler E Hines, who remained 0.79 seconds slower from him over the finishing end and secured silver medal of the discipline with the timing of 3 minutes and 59.68 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Sean J Nesheim of Minnesota Aquatics, who remained almost five seconds apart and hit the finishing end for third position with an effort of 4 minutes and 04.20 seconds.
Similarly, Nesheim was trailed by Jonathon E Burke of Elk Grove Swim Club, who stayed 1.94 seconds slower and ended his race in fourth best place by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 06.14 seconds.
The 17-year-old Burke was traced by Damon J Zito of Palatine Park District, who was 2.16 seconds apart and proved his mettle for fifth position by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 08.30 seconds.
Zito enjoyed a benefit of two body lengths over Daniel J Conway of Blue Devil Swim, who secured sixth position of the race by posting a time of 4 minutes and 10.12 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was gained by Marcus N Guttmann of Wisconsin Aquatics, who was 2.01 seconds slower and produced a time of 4 minutes and 12.13 seconds.
Guttmann was chased by his team-member, Austin T Cox, who remained eighth position holder of the event by touching the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 17.09 seconds.
In addition, the arena applauded for invincible efforts of Weiss in the 400m discipline after the event.
