Michael Wyss is all set to help Team NetApp at the Giro d’ Italia 2012
Michael Wyss is definitely lucky to have found a new team at this part of the year. The cyclist is all set to ride along Team NetApp for the 2012 season.
He was overwhelmed on joining the side and briefed that Team NetApp is one of the best Professional Continental teams in the sport.
The Swiss is looking ahead to help the team with his experience at the coming events.
He is eyeing the Italian Grand Tour and is keen to share his experience with the team for the 2012 edition of the Giro.
The UCI Professional Continental team was founded back in 2010 and it has done a great deal during the past seasons.
Its first victory came at the Tour de Normandie 2010 when Daniel Schorn succeeded during the third stage of the race.
He also succeeded during the second and the sixth stages of the Tour de Slovaquie while Alex Meenhorst claimed the Tour Alsace.
The German team is now looking ahead at a promising season and Giro d’ Italia is the best opportunity to prove its strength in the 2012 season.
Wyss rode the Giro d’ Italia on two occasions and is amongst the only four cyclists in Team NetApp with the previous Giro experience.
Although he only rode as a domestique to Denis Menchov and Carlos Sastre but rates it as one of the best experiences of his professional career.
He told Cyclingnews, “I am also valuable because of my time trial abilities. I will surely be a big support at the team time trial on the fourth day in Verona”.
“I want to do that for the team as well. If a teammate like (Leo) König or (Bartosz) Huzarski need my help at the Giro, I will be at their side”, he concluded.
While commenting on the Giro he noted, “It always takes a while for me to get in form; the decision won't be made until the final preparation races. But if I do ride, then I want to improve myself over 2010 and 2011”.
Michael is set to make his 2012 debut next Tuesday at the Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali.
He will also ride the Limburg, Brabant, Pino Cerami, and Rund um Köln followed by the Tour of Turkey.
