Fifth seeded, Kenny de Schepper, successfully qualify for the second round of the Samsung Securities Cup Challenger 2012 held at the hard courts of Deco-Turf in Seoul, Korea. The French professional jumped up and summed his straight-sets
win, 6-3, 6-3, against the American veteran, Michael Yani on Wednesday.
The duo encountered each other for the first time at the hard courts of France at the Nournea Challenger, in the start of this season. The Frenchman made maximum use of his homeland and collected his straight set win 6-3, 3-6,
6-4 against the American professional.
Ranked 126th in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Schepper, commenced the set displaying his superior run of form. He confidently served with poise and the endless determination to secure the front continued
to boil inside him. He broke his opponent’s serve in the sixth game and the marked a 4-2 lead. He preserved his serve throughout the set and brushed off Yani every time he tried to dominate. He converted all the last four games and closed the set with a 6-3
score line.
The 31-year-old American had a better initial serve of 75 percent with nine of 15 first and three of five second serve points. The higher ranked Frenchman fired his opponent with six aces, manifesting 72 percent initial serve in
vengeance.
In the second, the two contenders encountered similar situation and they preserved their serves for most of the games. The 25-year-old, Schepper, unveiled his true potential and swiped through the set without facing any hindrance.
He received his desirable breakthrough in the seventh game and nudged forward to steal the show with a 6-3 win.
The 6 ft 8 inch Frenchman, smashed seven powerful aces onto his rival and secured 79 percent initial serve precision. He managed to convert 14 of 19 first and two of five second serve points. In response to this, the American right-hander
was unable to capitalize on even one serve break with a below average initial serve of 48 percent. He managed to attain seven of 13 first and six of 14 second delivery points.
