Michael Yani passes by Yeu-Tzuoo Wang into final qualies – Malaysian Open 2011
With the second round of the Malaysian Open 2011 qualifiers on its way on Sunday, 25th September, Michael Yani, American, hammered his Taipei challenger, Yeu-Tzuoo Wang, and walked away with a win.  Battling out on the
indoor hard court at Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil for two long hours and sixteen minutes, the American bagged the tie winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Playing each other for the first time ever, Yani had predictions inclined towards his win as he had a better ranking. However, the Taipei 26-year-old did give out his most to retain his rival from winning. Wang, formerly ranked
world No.85 has been struggling this season dropping his ranking down to world No.391.
Anyhow, the two walked in the hard court following with a cheer for the two players and the service toss. Winning the toss, Wang started off serving for the opener and took out the first game. Breaking early the Taipei went on
storming on the 30-year-old American.
Breaking back, the American did cut the lead to 1-2, however, fell short of levelling up and lost another breakpoint, 1-3. Serving out game 5, Wang peddled the accelerator and moved on to 4-1.  With 4 more games played, both the
two took out 2 each finishing off the set at 6-3 in favour of the Taiwanese.
Moving on with the second set, the former world No.85 came up confident as he broke the first serve of the set and took the lead 0-1. Yani, however, came back strong as he broke back the 26-year-old and levelled up the scores at
1-1. The two went on to level up again at 2-2 before the American made his move.
With a serve-break-serve tactic working for the 30-year-old mustered a sudden 5-2 lead over his rival. With two games left, Yani served out game 9 winning the set 6-3 and levelling up the match scores, 1-1.
Pumping up the decider, Wang went on serving first and took out the starter. Yani followed his challenger who was eager to break him in game 2 but could not eventually. With score levelled up at 1-1, 2-2 and then at 3-3, Yani made
his move, breaking the Taipei and serving out the next game to lead the match 5-3.
Wang did pull off a game to cut down the lead to 4-5, however, could not break and lost the next game and the set 4-6. Yani, on the other hand, stood strong throughout the set and managed to pull off making into the final qualifying
round.
The American world No.195 will now play against Rik De Voest, South African, in the final qualifier of the Malaysian open 2011.
