Michael Yardy returns to cricket after recovering from depression – Cricket News
The English all-rounder, Michael Yardy, who quit the England team midway through the ICC World Cup 2011 and flew back home due to depression, has returned to competitive cricket for his county side, Sussex.
After recovering from more than a month long ordeal, Yardy made his comeback by leading his county side against Holland in their Clydesdale Bank 40 Group A contest. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank the supporters and all those who have sent
personal messages for their support over the last month, and the media for giving me and those close to me the privacy we have needed," Yardy said.
The left-arm spinner, who has served England in 14 Twenty20 and 28 One-Day internationals, described that he is looking forward to give his best for his county side. He also anticipated winning a place in the international side after performing well in domestic
cricket.
"I now intend to spend some time concentrating on my cricket and would ask that people respect my decision to focus on my performances for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 and continue to give me the space I need," the all-rounder added.
When asked about his sudden decision to leave team at a critical time in the showpiece event, Yardy explained that it was a very difficult decision to make but that was the best option he had at the time. Yardy further pleaded for a complete privacy in the
coming days as he wants to focus on his game and spend time with family and close friends.
It must be noted that Yardy was not the first case of this kind in England cricket. During England’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marcus-Trescothick-c1898 suddenly returned home because of similar kind of depression issues.

A tight international scheduled is considered to be the major cause of depression among English players. The Poms, who have been playing continuous cricket for the last six months, hardly got time to calm down after the World Cup as they were getting ready
for their Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, starting from May 26, 2011.
