Michael Young remains optimistic; Josh Hamilton plans to get treatment
The Texas Rangers have been reeling from their Game 7 defeat against the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series. Losing their second tournament in two years in a row can be looked upon as depressing but there are some opinions being cast that line up a
mixed response for the future. Some players are looking to tend to their personal affairs while some others are eyeing a positive return in 2012.
Optimism and Scepticism is expected to reign through the next few weeks as the club works out its problems. Two players got the chance to talk from the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Saturday, October 29, as they expressed their opinions openly to the
press. Michael Young, who was .338 with the bat during the regular season, gave an optimistic look at the days ahead.
"Obviously, this will stink for a while," first baseman Michael Young said. "But this will wear off in time, and we'll get back at it. We're not going to sit here and use this Series as motivation. We just know this is a championship-calibre team. That's
good enough. This is a great group of guys. We don't need to make changes. We just need to keep going."
The star played as a designated hitter for most of the regular season but he was returned to the first base in the post season on many occasions. He would be looking to anchor the club on top of the American League West as he will be hoping to marshal the
club through the infield.
Josh Hamilton was another man to talk to the press and he was a figure that was rarely hitting strong through the World Series. Nesting a left groin strain, the player managed to put up a .271 hitting average in the post season. Now the star is looking to
get his injury repaired over the course of the offseason period.
"I'm going to take at least week off and go see a doctor in Philadelphia," Hamilton said. "I'll let him check me out, do some scans. If there's something he needs to fix, he'll fix it."
The Rangers will be back in camp soon and there is a lot of expectation from the team, this time around.
