Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director has claimed that the Japanese international has rejected a new deal and will be leaving the summer.
Shinji Kagawa’s future has been under widespread speculation for the last few months and the attacker has reportedly denied signing a new contract to stay with the German champions. The player is eager to play in the English Premier
League and will most likely join Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Zorc claimed that he had met Kagawa’s agent a few days back and revealed that the player has made his decision to leave the club. He insisted that the Japanese international will not extend his current deal with Dortmund and stressed
that the side will negotiate terms with different clubs come the summer transfer window.
“I had a meeting on Monday morning with his agent - http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364 told him that he definitely will not extend his contract with us. Should offers come now for Kagawa, we will deal with them and negotiate,” he was quoted as saying
in an interview.
On the other hand, Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp defended the midfielder for not extending his deal with his current employers. He claimed that the Bundesliga is not a great achievement from where the player comes from. He added
that in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Japan-c2928 English Premier League is huge which is why the player is likely to end up there.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 boss admitted that it must have been a difficult decision for the player to leave as he has spent so many years at the club. He wished him all the luck for the future and is confident of finding a suitable
replacement.
“Where Shinji was born, our league means nothing, there is only the English Premier League. But it is certain that Shinji had to do something incredibly difficult, to make a decision against us. Anyone who leaves us carries the
greatest doubt as to whether he makes the right decision,” he concluded.
Borussia Dortmund recently won the DFB-Pokal after beating Bayern Munich in the final with a 5-2 scoreline. The club secured a domestic double after the victory as they have already won the league.
