Michal Navara and Tomas Klobucnik dominate in Humenne - Slovakia Championships
Michal Navara and Tomas Klobucnik dominated proceedings on day one of the 2011 Slovakia Championships at Humenne, Slovakia, on Friday, July 1.
Navara won the title in the Men’s 50m freestyle meet, while Tomas Klobucnik took home the crown in the Men’s 50m breast-stroke event.
Slovakia’s Navara secured the Men's 50m freestyle title in a scintillating time of 24.19 seconds. Milan Medo earned second spot in 24.27 seconds, whereas, Norbert Trudman wound up third in 24.72 seconds.
Tomas Klobucnik captured the Men's 50m breast-stroke race with a time of 30.34 seconds. Daniel Vacval settled second in 30.76 seconds, while Marek Botik earned third place honours in 31.22 seconds.
Miroslava Syllabova won the Women’s 50m freestyle meet in a time of 26.99 seconds, while Katarina Listopadova was placed second in 27.15 seconds. The third place went to Katarina Filova in 27.38 seconds.
Patricia Hlavnova earned first place honours in the Women’s 50m breast-stroke event with a time of 34.10 seconds, while Aurelia Tmovcova finished second in 34.11 seconds. Karin Sebikova rounded out the top three in 34.41 seconds.
In the Men’s 50m back-stroke, Martin Tomanik placed first with a time of 28.12 seconds. Medo earned second in 28.38 seconds and Vladislav Vovcko finished third in time of 29.41 seconds.
Katarina Milly won the Women's 50m back-stroke event with a time of 30.77 seconds, while Karin Tomeckova finished second in 31.73 seconds. Romana Pavlikova earned the third spot on the podium in 32.22 seconds.
The Men’s 100m butterfly meet was captured by Trudman with a winning time of 55.83 seconds. Andrej Grill hit the wall second in 56.98 seconds and Mario Rusnak earned third place honours with a time of 57.22 seconds.
Listopadova won the Women’s 100m butterfly race with a sterling time of 1 minute and 01.02 seconds, while Denisa Smolenova was placed second in 1 minute and 01.26 seconds. Nikola Ondriskova rounded out the top three in 1 minute and 05.89 seconds.
The Slovakia Championships is a great opportunity for national swimmers to prepare themselves hard for the upcoming FINA World Championships in Shanghai, this July.
