Michal Przysiezny strikes against Timo Nieminen; win second round – IPP Open 2011 CH
Working his way into the second round of the IPP Open 2011, Michal Przysiezny, Polish, went on hampering his round 2 challenger, Timo Nieminen, Finn and making his way into the quarter-final of the ATP Challenger tour. It took
the Polish just below an hour to finish off with the Finn world No.343 6-3, 6-1.
Although the two rivals did not have that much difference in ranking, however, the world no.343 gave the Finn a beating of his life. With amazing stats, 8 wins 2 losses, in the past 10 matches, Nieminen had a greater chance of
winning, however, the rival proved worthy of his ranking. On the other hand, Nieminen had a stunner. Even though the 30-year-old had been formerly a higher ranked player, world No.126, he still could not find his best form to play against the Polish.
Moving on with rather a quick match, Przysiezny warmed up as he had won the toss and had to serve first. Opening the match with a cheer from the crowd, the Polish went on banging the 1st game of set 1. Nieminen levelled
up the scores right away and switched back the serve, 1-1.
Extending his lead further on, the 27-year-old put forward a strong defence and a great net play to outdo his opponent in game three. With scores now at 2-1, Nieminen finally lost his defence and his second service game giving
away a breakpoint to his opponent. Failing to break Przysiezny back, he lost another set and watched the higher ranked rival drive off to an amazing 3 games lead.
Extending his lead to straight four games, the 27-year-old finally lost his momentum and gave away a breakpoint, 5-2. Nieminen did take advantage of the breakpoint win; however, the difference in scores was too much for the Finn
to make a comeback. Serving out game nine, Przysiezny blew away the first set winning, 6-3, and onto set two.
Starting off with winning a breakpoint in the first game, the Polish went on thrashing the Finn world no.343 and made him beg a game win. Przysiezny won back-to-back 4 games and took away the set effortlessly to win the set 6-1
and the fixture in straight sets
Winning the 2nd round 6-3, 6-1, the right hander now moves on into the quarter-final round of the IPP Open 2011 to play against German, Matthias Bachinger, who has been proving to be an upset on tour, beating the top
seed out of the event.
