Michal Przysiezny upsets Hiroki Moriya in the final round – Dunlop World Challenger 2012 CH
Polish contender, Michal Przysiezny, successfully achieved his win at the 2012 Dunlop World Challenge Tennis Tournament held at the Taraflex courts of Toyota, Japan. He summed up his straight sets triumph, 6-2, 6-3 shocking the
Japanese challenger, Hiroki Moriya, on the eve of Sunday.
The two challengers commenced a decent start of the opener, and the score line levelled down to 1-all in the second game. The lower ranked Pole confidently took the lead and nudged forward with a strong resolve to dominate over
his counterpart. He thundered forward with a strong determination, cashing on his break opportunity twice i.e. in the sixth and eighth game. Moriya’s pace completely crushed as he was unable to sustain the pressure and eventually gifted the initial set to
his competitor, securing a 6-2 lead.
The two contestants started an average start of the second set and held their serves for the major portion of the time. The right-hander Japanese professional struggled for the initial portion of the set and the score line squared
down to 2-all in the fourth and 3-all in the sixth game. Fortunately, the Pole broke his opponent’s serve in the eighth game. This gave Przysiezny the bursting confidence to secure his long-awaited win, and he skilfully concluded the match with a 6-3 win.
Considering the overall stats of the match, the 28-year-old, Polish professional attained an average initial serve precision of 79 percent and displayed his outstanding potential by firing forward 17 aces. He converted 31 of 38
first and seven of 10 second serve points to engrave win. The world number 185, Moriya, secured an average initial serve of 57 percent, pocketing away 25 of 39 first and 12 of 30 second serve points.
Previously, the fifth seeded contestant gave the top seeded Japanese contestant, Yuichi Sugita, a noteable straight-sets defeat, 7-6(5), 6-2, and had a fair chance to surprise his fans by winning the trophy at his home ground.
On the other hand, ranked 266th in the ATP World Tour Rankings, Przysiezny, manifested his outstanding skill by prevailing over the Aussie contender, John Millman in the semi-finals.
