Micheal Jordon: Hands Down, Best all Rounder Basketball Player Ever to Play in the NBA

Michael Jordon, the highly praised and also acclaimed to be a revolutionary player, quite possibly the greatest player ever to be a part of the NBA, started his career in 1982. Michael a New Yorker, graduated from University of North Carolina. His claim to fame began early 1982 before joining the NBA, when he led Tar Heels straight to the National Championship.

Chicago Bulls wasted no time in drafting the young astonishing player in 1984. Michael took no time in stealing the hearts of millions due to his aspiring and charismatic facade. Nevertheless, that was not only the thing he left the fans stunned by, it was his rich performance and his consistency in every game he played was his forte.  Dunking from the free throw line, making shots that weren’t even thought to be possible at that time were delivered by this promising star. His uncanny ability to score on score was exhilarating, hence earning him the nick name “Air Jordon”.

After starting his professional career with the league, Michael was considered to be a big star shortly. He was the first player to be voted as an All-Star by fans in his rookie season. Players on his team were distressed by his growing fame in such a short instance. A “freeze-out” period started as players on his team would hesitate and sometimes turn down on passing the ball to him. Michael lost his first season with Chicago Bulls to Milwaukee Bucks due the indiscretion by the team, but Michael was unaffected by the juvenile behaviour from his teammates, and ended up getting the Rookie of the Year award.

Second season was a bit troublesome for Michael; he broke his foot causing him to miss out on 64 games. Luckily, brawny Michael recovered in time to play the season against Boston Celtics. Although Celtics beat Bulls but that still did not stop Michael to do what the star does best, on being persistent and resistant from any pressure. Which lead him to make a record for making the highest points in a playoff game that is still unbeaten to date, by scoring 63 in Game 2.

Mid of his career, Jordon was the most feared player in NBA.  Michaels fame was mounting as days were passing by, he was being talked about everywhere by the media, nationally and internationally. He was unstoppable. It came to a point when the “Jordon-Rule” was introduced by teams; the rule came into play by triple teaming on Michael as soon as he grabbed the ball.

Making records and winning awards seemed effortless for Michael Jordon. Michael was the only player after Wilt Chamberlain to score 3000 points in a season. He nearly single handily won 6 championships, became MVP 5 times, he made it to All-NBA First Team 10 times, he also won the title for being the NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Winning two Gold Medals at the Olympics did not seem enough for the thriving player. He won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest twice, and was considered to be NBA All-Star Game MVP. He was given several trophies and titles such as:

Adolph Rupp Trophy,
Naismith College Player of the Year John R. Wooden Award,
USBWA College Player of the Year,
ACC Men's Basketball Player of the Year etc.

Michael Retired in 1993 to pursue baseball, he joined the minor league baseball. It led to a major disappointment to his fans all over the world that wowed him as basketball player throughout his career. He made the decision to join because it was his late father’s dream. Although it was a major fail for him, he continued playing for 3 years from 1993 to 1995. He announced his return to NBA in 95’ which led to big spark as Michael Jordan fans couldn’t wait for him to play again. He himself was quite keen on coming back and wasted no time in his training. Dennis Rodman joined Chicago Bulls in 1995 becoming Jordan’s sidekick; their bond was like batman and robin. Together they won the first Championship after Michaels return on fathers’ day, which led to an emotional moment for Michael. As told, Michael cried sitting in the locker room by himself; in his fathers’ memory. After that, Chicago Bulls won three consecutive titles from 1996 to 1998.

His Second retirement in 1998 by January 12th was indeed a letdown to Chicago Bulls since his contract was expiring and Rodman decided to loom as a free agent. However, Michael returned in 2001 but joined Washington Wizards with intentions to donate all of his salary to the September 11th attack which left the entire world devastated. Sadly, he was only able to play 60 games due to his injuries, tearing his cartilage in his right knee.

It is widely believed that Chicago Bulls is not the team that it once was, said to an extent that basketball was never and will be the same after Michael’s retirement.

If a scale existed to evaluate the greatness of Michael Jordon, he would easily tip it over. He was hands down best all rounder player ever to play in the NBA.
