Micheal Phelps has a 12,000 calorie a day diet?

I read that he has a 12,000 calorie diet and i saw his "menu" that he eats everyday. OMG! he eats alot

This is his "menu":

Breakfast: 3 fried egg sandwiches, 2 cups coffee, 5-egg omlette, bowl of grits, 3 pieces of french toast, 3 chocolate chip pancakes

Lunch: 1 pound pasta, 2 ham and cheese sandwiches, energy drink (1,000 calorie)

Dinner: 1 pound pasta, 1 large pizza, energy drink (1,000 calorie)

He says that he burns so many calories a day that he can eat what ever he wants to.

  1. I read and saw the thing on TV about it I think it is amazing. and with all the training he goes through his body demands that is incredible considering the average human consumes 2,000-2,500 (somewhere around that not an actual stat.) each day

  5. Micheal Phelps eats a lot of food because he can't get to 200 pounds & he burns a lot of calories from swimming

    Plus calories give you energy and you have energy to swim really fast.

  6. Well clearly he's not overweight; if he can eat that much and not BE overweight, then he must indeed be using up all those calories.

    i mean, i know he's a guy (and they can eat a lot) but that...

    whoa!

    but it's like, have you ever been swimming for a long time and then  when you get out of the pool you start to think "hey, i'm REALLY hungry".

    it's kinda like that.

    he swims for like 8 hours a day, so yeah.

    and i am really skinny and eat  A TON and not gain a pound. he is that way too.

    he is awesome!

  10. Yep when you swim 5 hours you can do it and a growing man needs lots of food anyway and believe when you swim really hard you need a LOT more calories then normal.
