Michael Shenton is hoping to get in to finals of Carnegie Challenge Cup - Rugby

Michael Shenton is going to appear in the first semi-final of the Carnegie Challenge Cup against Wigan Warriors at Warrington's Halliwell Jones Stadium, on August 6. One day later he will watch his former club, the Castleford Tigers, contest
against the Leeds Rhino in the other semi-final at Doncaster.
Shenton moved to play for the St. Helens in 2011, after playing for seven years with Castlefords, his hometown club, with which he had debuted as the three-quarter in 2004, in a clash against Wigans.
Shenton believes that if the semi-finals are won by his present and previous clubs, then the final clash between Castlefords and Saints will be thrilling. He said that the Wigans and Leeds are currently leading the pack, which undermines the possibility
of the propagation of St. Helen and Tigers to the big showdown of the Carnegie Challenge Cup, scheduled to take place on August 27.
While reflecting on the slim chances to the much talked about clash, Shenton stated, “That's the ideal situation but obviously we've a massive hurdle in front of us in the shape of Wigan Warriors. I'm expecting to be sore so I'll watch Sunday's game on the
telly with my friends. I'm really happy for Cas and I do follow what they're doing but I've got enough on my plate. It's my first semi-final - it's why I came to Saints - and I've got to enjoy it.”
Shenton will be facing the Wigans the fourth time after he has taken off his line-up with the Saints this year and is aspiring to bag his first win against the Warriors. Explaining the amount of effort demanded by the Saints to meet the much stronger Wigans,
Shenton mentioned that Wigans is a very strong team with each player exhibiting class. He also said that despite their undeniably strong team, Saints are to concentrate on the way they play and this will definitely bear fruitful results for them.
According to Shenton, Saints have a strong performance profile to contest against the Wigans, as they have moved into the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup and are sitting on third spot within the Super League table.
