Michel Bastos certain to stay at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 – Ligue 1 news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 international Michel Bastos who is currently on the book of seven-time Ligue 1 champions Olympique Lyonnais has made it clear that he will stay with the Rhone giants this season.
The 28-year-old winger was linked with a move away from the Stade Gerland for a long time following Italian Serie A side Juventus’ interest in him since January 2011. However, the Italian giants never came up with an official or a concrete offer for the
talented midfielder.
Though Bastos was one of the players rumoured to be offloaded to generate funds for this summer’s spending, Remi Garde is reluctant to let go of a player who has been an influential presence in the Rhone outfit since his arrival from LOSC Lille in the summer
of 2009.
Les Gones have already lost Cesar Delgado and Jeremy Toulalan this summer and have not found a suitable replacement for Toulalan who was one of the best defensive midfielders in the 2010/2011 Ligue 1 campaign.
Without any concrete offers put forward for him, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 now suggest that president Jean-Michel Aulas has
decided to take the Brazilian out of the transfer list and is looking to keep him at the club for at least this season.
Bastos revealed on his twitter account, “Friends, let me tell you that I will remain at OL, this is where I want to win titles.” The winger also said that he never really wanted to leave the club as he feels good in the city.
Bastos also pointed out that the reason behind his stay was also because of the change in the atmosphere at the club which could possibly mean that the South American is comfortable with having Remi Garde as the new coach of the French giants.
Bastos’ announcement to stay at the Rhone outfit is a good new indeed for Lyon direction and the fans. So far, Les Gones have not made a single new signing this summer. The departure of Bastos could have hurt Lyon a lot in the long run but having secured
his services for this season, Lyon can definitely hope to do better than they did last season.
