Michel Bastos extends contract at Olympique Lyonnais to two years - Ligue 1 news
Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyonnais have extended the contract of Brazil international Michel Bastos. The new contract will see the former Lille man stay at Stade Gerland until 2015.
The 28-year-old winger was linked with a move away from the Rhone club since the beginning of this summer’s transfer window. Italian Serie A giants Juventus were touted as a possible destination for Bastos.
However, a concrete proposal never came by and Michel Bastos is still an Olympique Lyonnais player. Though Bastos was open to the idea of joining the Old Lady, he never once tried to push for a move out of respect for a club that has been his home since
2009.
He arrived at the Stade de Gerland from Lille for a fee of 18 million Euros, and after a slow start to life at Lyon, has become an integral part of the side under new coach Remi Garde.
It has now been confirmed that the Brazilian has extended his contract with Les Gones.
The official website of the club said in a statement, “http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Bastos-c25461 for two years. Bastos joined OL in 2009 and played the last World Cup with Brazil, is now staying at the club until,
June 30, 2015.”

This season, Michel Bastos has been by far the most influential players in the Olympique Lyonnais. Playing on the left-flank and also moving to the right when required, the speedy winger’s form has been the main reason why Lyon are currently on top of the
Ligue 1 standings level on points with Toulouse and Paris Saint-Germain.
Already this season, Bastos has scored two goals and has four assists to his name in seven Ligue 1 games. the Brazilian has already made 57 Ligue 1 appearances for the seven-time French champions and this season is proving to be one of his most productive
seasons for Les Gones.
