The Olympique Lyonnais winger, at the helm of intense transfer speculation is keen on a great season with Lyon as he shrugs off transfer speculations surrounding him all summer
The 29-year-old saw numerous clubs, all summer, notably Spartak Moscow and Fulham, chasing his signature with another Mid East club, Al Ain, at one point set to reach a deal with Lyon. However, with transfer deadline shut on most of the European clubs, Bastos
is still at Lyon, and looking forward to the new season that lies ahead.
The Brazilian had already made up his mind and was quoted by the club’s official website as, “I now have one thing on my mind and that is to have a great season with Lyon”. “In my head I am here for the whole season”, added the former Lille player.
Michel Bastos’ current form suggests why the player has attracted strong interest from clubs of different leagues, throughout the summer.  Featuring as substitute in the last two games and only one full game to his name this season, Bastos has been right
on target, scoring on all the three occasions.
And the Brazilian is excited with his form as he added, “I am happy with my game and the team’s form. Lyon are good and dynamic.” After an impressive show against Valenciennes, whereby the left-winger equalised for Lyon in the 18th minute, the
player emphasized his commitment to the club.
“I only have one thing in mind: to make this a superb season for Olympique Lyonnais”, explained the jubilant man, who turned 29 on the 2nd of august. Overjoyed with his form, Bastos added, “I am happy with how I played, and with the way the team
played”.
It is pertinent to mention here that Lyon had to fight back from a goal down, thanks to the heroics of the wanted Brazilian, who snapped up a timely equaliser for les Gones and set the tone for plenty more goals to come.
His stay at the club has helped in boosting the morale of the players and fans alike, after having seen prolific shot-stopper, Hugo Lloris, departing to the Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs.
