The UEFA President has made his stance clear on any suggestions made on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 not participating in the European Championships and reflected on other issues as well.
The Frenchman was visibly irked with the comments made by Italian national team head coach. Cesare Prandelli mentioned that they would be willing to stay out of the competition due to all the criticism being directed towards his
team, with the betting scandal that seems to have hit Italian football once more after the Calciopoli.
Platini gave his opinion on the subject of match-fixing and stated that any player involved in the act should be banned for life. However, he went on to mention that investigations were still under progress and the players are
to be blamed for succumbing to the advances of any such men. He also remarked on Prandelli’s comments, and elaborated:
“As I have already said, anyone involved in match-fixing should never play football again. By saying Italy could stay home, Prandelli made a big mistake. In any case, the decision would be down to the Federation and not him.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937 was also on the record to have said that he would leave the field of play if there were elements of racism and racial slurs being levied during the match. There have been new guidelines made by UEFA which state
that matches can be called off if there appear to be racist chants or slurs coming from the stands. However, the judge of that would be the referee, and the UEFA supremo has stated that no individual player is allowed to set off on their own. Any player taking
decisions by themselves would be reprimanded.
Furthermore he mentioned:
“Balotelli said he’d walk off the field if he was insulted? It’s not up to him to decide, but rather the referee. The officials must stick to the rules, which include the option to suspend the match. If Balotelli leaves the pitch
without permission then he will be punished.”
Questions have been raised on the suitability of the venue for the tournament given the amount of cases against bigotry and racism within http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032.
