Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 defender Michel Salgado has been allowed to leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window, manager Steve Kean revealed.
According to reports, the 36-year-old is currently sidelined with an injury but talks have already been held regarding his future. It was decided between the player’s representatives and the club’s agents that this was Salgado’s last season at Ewood Park.
It is no secret that the Blackburn Rovers owners are looking to cut costs and have been rumoured to be low on funds. It is for this reason they are looking to get rid of players who are no longer needed at the club and Salgado happens to be one of them.
The Rovers manager Steve Kean confirmed the news.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 won't be here next season.
If there is an opportunity for him to find another solution in this window that is something we would look at.”
He revealed it was due to their respect for the former Real Madrid player that they had decided to inform him about their decision beforehand. The reason for the Rovers not wanting an experienced defender amongst their ranks is that Salgado has proven to
be highly injury prone.
Meanwhile Kean revealed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Olsson-c24423, who has been out for the past six weeks, could make his return against Manchester United. He revealed the 23-year-old has a troublesome hamstring injury, which was beginning to show improvement.
He revealed:
“At first, we were very aggressive in our treatment to try and get him back out onto the pitch. That wasn't working so we backed off it and changed the way we are treating it.”
Salgado on the other hand has claimed he is not currently injured and is being “frozen out” by the club because they want him to leave in the winter transfer window.
Salgado said in an interview:
“I want the fans to know all I want to do is help the team and help Blackburn survive in the Premier League, but the owners and manager aren't allowing me to do this. I'm fit to play but I have been given five days off instead.”
