Despite creating chances after chances, Sevilla couldn’t just break the deadlock and they had to settle for a goalless draw with Levante
It seems Sevilla’s engine is slowing down. It is two consecutive winless games for them in La Liga. At home against the inform Levante, the Andalusians started the match in a high tempo. Early on in the game they started dominating
the game and could have gone one goal ahead if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-c5280 Negredo’s effort was not saved by the visitors’ keeper.
Sevilla continued attacking and pushing forward but Levante were very intact at the back and all the attempts by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Federico-Fazio-c13463, Negredo and Jesus Navas came to no avail as they just could not break the defence line. It was stalemate
at the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramon-c30533 Sanchez Pizjuan.
However, Sevilla boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453, admitted that he was not happy with the result, but was pleased with the performance of his team.
“I’m displeased with the result, not the team, although we lacked the knowledge to break them down.”
He commented on how his team performed after the interval and how his players applied more pressure on Levante. Regardless, he admitted the goalless draw meant his side could not find the breakthrough goal.
“In the second half we submitted them to intense pressure but when a game ends goalless then it means you have not been successful in front of goal.”
The Sevilla boss was also asked about if his side had a contingency plan without the involvement of Navas.
He played down the whole issue regarding alternative plans and said that if his team scored then no one would be talking about other plans.
“If we had scored then we wouldn’t be talking of a plan B,” he argued. “If you take Jesus Navas out of the game then that would be to do without 15 crosses every match.”
Finally, the 49-year-old gave his thoughts on the recent conflict between the fans of the club and President, Jose Maria Del Nido.
“We need the supporters behind us for the whole 90 minutes and I imagine the President and directors will be looking to find a solution.”
Next match in La Liga Sevilla will travel and face the struggling Athletic Bilbao.
