Michelangelo and Cameron Highland to lock horns in the £150,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Cup
Newmarket will stage the Class 2 £150,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Cup on Saturday, 30th June over a mile and two furlongs. The race has attracted a line-up of fourteen three-year-old runners, who will invade the track to get entitled to the £81,150 prize money.
The 4 to 5 entry of the race, Michelangelo, Galileo’s bay colt, out of mare Intrigued, is lightly raced however, he has successfully reflected his potential in his two career outings.
The 3-year-old stood third in the Qatar Racing Newmarket Stakes (Listed Race) (Colts & Geldings) on 5th May, 2012 at Newmarket over a mile and two furlongs. The runner up, Mariner’s Cross, got defeated by a slight neck’s margin, while the race was won by the favourite, Noble Mission.
The bay colt did not make the connections, and the crowds wait for long to see him winning as he claimed the Casco Cocked Hat Stakes (Listed Race) (Colts & Geldings) on 25th May, 2012 at Goodwood over a mile and three furlongs.
He was entered as the favourite and headed by half-length, setting Expense Claim, as the runner-up. Filling up the third slot behind the winner was, Perennial.
The John Gosden trained will race with the regular jockey, William Buick, and the duo has drawn the fourth stall to race from.
An entry to look out for is the 4 to 1, Cameron Highland, Galileo’s three-year-old bay colt, out of mare Landmark. The Irish colt has three career starts, and two of them run in the 2012 season.
The Roger Varian trained 3-year-old bay colt finished third in the E B F Oath Colts And Geldings Maiden Stakes on 26th October, 2011 at Nottingham over a mile and one-half furlong.
Finishing the closest to the winner was, Aleksandar.
He rolled into the 2012 season on 9th April, 2012, and won the Win A Vip Day Out @ Redcarracing.co.UK Maiden Stakes at Redcar over a mile and a furlong, while the favourite won by good eight lengths.
He then scored a third place finish in the Investec Derby Trial Conditions on 25th April, 2012 at Epsom over a mile and two furlongs.
