Trish,

Thank you for your email. We welcome the opportunity to serve you. The color

of the "Michelin Man" is based on a historical precedent. When the Michelin

brothers visited an exhibition in Lyon, France, in the late 1800's, they saw

a pile of tires wrapped in white crepe paper (typical for products of that

day). The wrapped tires resembled a man, which inspired the creation of the

"Michelin Man". In addition, tires in the 19th century were more of a gray

color; it was only with the addition of carbon black much later that tires

achieved their current-day black color.

We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Michelin.
