Michelle Keung captures Girls 100yard IM title – High School State Championships, San Francisco
Michelle Keung of LOW captured gold medal of the Girls 100yard Individual Medley (IM) in Juniors category at the 2012 High School State Championships in San Francisco, California on Tuesday, May 1.
Keung remained prominently ahead of her challengers throughout the IM event as she ended her swim in a time of 1 minute and 09.92 seconds.
Keung was followed by her teammate, Bethany Kwan, who completed her swim in second best place by producing a time of 1 minute and 14.47 seconds.
Kwan was trailed by Ingrid Adams, who stayed just 0.12 seconds slower from her former finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 14.59 seconds.
Her bronze finish was chased by Malia Bow of BAL, who stayed almost 1.50 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 16.10 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth spot of the race was trailed by Tullia Yu of WASH, who remained 1.37 seconds away from the fourth position holder and posted a time of 1 minute and 17.47 seconds.
On the other hand, Roy Tam of LINC dominated the same discipline in Boys category, where he smothered his opponents by acquiring gold medal of the event with the timing of 1 minute and 02.21 seconds.
His title-claiming effort remained 2.64 seconds faster from Austin Yu of BAL, who followed Tam on the victory stand for second position by submitting a time of 1 minute and 04.85 seconds.
Yu was chased by Andrew Lee of LOW, who managed to outperform his opponents on the wall for bronze medal by reporting a time of 1 minute and 05.14 seconds.
Lee was trailed by his team-member, Horace Kwan, who stayed 0.70 seconds behind and settled on the finishing end as fourth position holder with the timing of 1 minute and 05.84 seconds.
Kwan was followed by his teammate, Nolan Dang, who finished fifth in the event with the timing of 1 minute and 06.45 seconds.
The championship ended after the completion of all events while the position holders received awards and accolades after the session.
