Michelle Keung wins Girls 50yard butterfly title – High School State Championships, San Francisco
Michelle Keung of LOW won gold medal of the Girls 50yard butterfly at the 2012 High School State Championships in San Francisco, California on Tuesday, May 1.
Keung lived up to the expectations of her supporters as she continued her winning streak by adding the crown of shortest butterfly discipline to her medal list. She showed no leniency to her opponents and went on a rampage in the playoff to rake the title of the event.
With her astonishing swim, she seized the crown of the shortest butterfly event by clocking a time of 31.50 seconds.
Her gold winning effort remained 0.53 seconds ahead of Keung’s team-member, Lissa Dechakul, who occupied silver medal of the event by producing a time of 32.03 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Ingrid Adams, who stayed only 0.10 seconds apart and reached the finishing blockade for bronze medal by producing a time of 32.13 seconds.
With her third fastest finish, Adams remained just 0.03 seconds lucky from her following rival, Colette Apelo of MIS, who transpired on the finishing end for fourth position by clocking a time of 32.16 seconds.
Apelo was trailed by Eleanor Amidei of LINC, who remained significantly away from her and touched the wall with the timing of 32.99 seconds for fifth position.
Subsequently, Roy Tam of LINC impressed his supporters by gathering gold medal of the same event in Boys category.
Tam displayed his nerve-wrecking form in the 50yard event as he stepped on the victory stand for gold medal with the timing of 27.41 seconds.
His gruelling effort remained 1.39 seconds faster from Austin Yu of BAL, who ended second in the event by touching the wall with the timing of 28.80 seconds.
Yu was followed by Dennis Ly of LOW, who remained almost a second away and completed his race in third best place by producing a time of 29.84 seconds.
Irving Chang of LINC fastest swimmer of the event as he clocked a time of 30.29 seconds.
In addition, the position holders were awarded accolades for their wonderful efforts after the session.
