Michelle Wie down and out, but firm to improve in 2013

American Michelle Wie has been out of form since she stunned spectators in the CN Canadian Women’s Open, at St. Charles Country Club, in August 2010. It has been more than two years without
a victory and now the glamorous golfer seems to have made up her mind about breaking her long winning drought and regain her momentum.
Wie, a 23-year-old from Honolulu, Hawaii, participated in most of the LPGA tournaments in the 2012 season, but could not impress her fans. Especially the early months of the season were worse
than average, as the American star missed the cut in three events in a row.
She made a slow start to her 2012 campaign as she finished tied for the 38th position at her first tournament of the season—Honda LPGA Thailand 2012. She once again failed to pull
off an impressive show when she finished 59th at HSBC Women’s Champions 2012 in the same month.
Wie realised her potential, but her efforts did not seem to pay off at all. She missed the cut at Kia Classic, Kraft Nabisco Championship, and LPGA Lotte Championship 2012, which are some
of the most prestigious LPGA tournaments.
Her ordeal did not end there as she missed the cut in another two tournaments in a row.
Although Wie has been displaying lacklustre play, as her profile has been almost static since her last triumph in Canada in August 2010, she showed in some of the 2012 tournaments that she
can make a comeback.
The Safeway Classic 2012 saw Wie take the 8th position on the leaderboard.
Her performance was amazing at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational 2012 as well, as she took the share of 14th position on the leaderboard. She said during the tournament that she has
been practising hard, but has yet to fix flaws in her game.
“I mean I definitely look at that and four years is definitely a goal of mine,” Wie said. “I was in Copenhagen when it was announced as an Olympic sport from then on I was thinking about it
and it’s definitely a goal of mine and it would be a great honor and I will definitely work my butt off to make the team”.
