Michelle Wie performs well at Safeway Classic 2012
American Michelle Wie, who has been seeking to regain her lost charisma on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, displayed a solid performance in the Safeway Classic 2012 as she shot an overall
208 to finish 8th on the leaderboard.
The Safeway Classic 2012, which was played last week at Pumpkin Ridge’s Ghost Creek Course, United States, saw Wie in a stunning form as she made perfect strokes throughout the three days.
The American star kicked off the prestigious tournament in amazing style as she carded a 69 in the opening round. Getting off to a good start helped Wie gain much-needed confidence and she moved into the next
round with plenty of confidence.
The second round saw the famed LPGA star shoot a decent 70. However, she displayed an even better performance in the final round as she posted a 69 to further strengthen her position on the leaderboard.
Analysts said that Wie has shown such a stunning performance after a long time, which was appreciated by her fans and American spectators at North Plains, Oregon, United States.
Analysts pointed out that despite having faltered in most of the recent tournaments, Wie came up with a solid strategy at the Safeway Classic 2012 and atoned for her past lapses.
They added that a better finish at the prestigious LPGA tournament will open the way for American star to record more such performances in the coming events.
Sharing her thoughts at the end of the tournament, Wie said that she is more than thrilled after finishing inside the top 10, and she will try to keep the momentum going in the coming LPGA tournaments.
“I felt like I won after I made that putt on the last hole. But I have to say, it feels good to get on the leaderboard and see my name up there consistently this week. It was a lot of fun. I have a lot of
positives to take from this week to next week. I'm very excited to go to Canada and do it all over again,” the LPGA titan said.
“I was aggressive. I talked to David yesterday, and just being aggressive out there again and not really caring about the results as much. It was a lot more fun”.
