Michelle Wie unhappy with performance at US Women’s Open 2012
American Michelle Wie looked quite unhappy at the end of the US Women’s Open 2012, as she finished tied for the 35th position after shooting an unimpressive 80 in the fourth round.
The US Women’s Open 2012 was played at Blackwolf Run, Kohler, with the presence of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) titans like current world number one Yani Tseng, world number two Stacy Lewis, Ai Miyazato, Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, Shanshan Feng, Cristie Kerr, Mika Miyazato, Azahara Munoz, Brittany Lang, Diana Luna and Brittany Lincicome.
Wie expressed her feelings at the end of the tournament, saying she never thought that she would mess up her score in the final round.
She said that she was playing amazingly well, but a few fatal flaws in her swing and putting took a toll on her overall position on the leaderboard.
The last round saw the American star falter on almost every hole. She disappointed her fans when she made a bogey on the very first hole. She parred the second hole and shot another bogey on the third.
Although off to a decent start, Wie looked as though she completely lost her momentum on the concluding day. She faced yet another shock when she recorded three straight bogeys on the fifth, sixth and seventh hole.
On the back nine, her performance remained sloppy as she made a double bogey on the difficult par-3 13th.
Analysts said that Wie, who has been struggling to find form for the last several months, was satisfied with the way she made a start in third major event of the season, but had to walk off the course with a sad face after she messed up her score in the fourth round.
“It was one of the most frustrating rounds for me. I hit a lot of missed shots today. Just the long game, didn't feel comfortable for me out there, and I hit every putt really good and every putt looked like they were going to go in which didn't go in,” the LPGA star shared.
“It was a very frustrating round overall. But at the same time I still had a lot of fun playing today and it was a great U. S. Open experience, and I'm really looking forward to the next tournament”.
