Michigan State Spartans’ Keshawn Martin back for week 12
Michigan State Spartans wide receiver Keshawn Martin is expected to be back in the line-up for the club’s week 12 game against the Purdue Boilermakers.
Martin was injured in the Spartans’ game against the Northwestern Wildcats on 23 October and was forced out of the club’s last two meetings with the Iowa State Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Nevertheless, head coach Mark Dantonio has said that
Martin has been practising and he should be able to get him out in all situations.
Martin is an important part of Michigan State’s offence and special teams, as the receiver is very versatile and known for his big-play capabilities. The youngster has managed a touchdown in five different ways during his career with the Spartans. The junior
has recorded a touchdown running, receiving, passing and on punt and kick-off returns, making him one of only three active players to have accomplished the feat.
The Spartans will be keen to get Martin back in the line-up, as the battle for top spot in the Big Ten is heating up. The Spartans currently sit at the top of the conference at 9-1 and with a 5-1 record against conference opponents. However, both the Ohio
State Buckeyes and the Wisconsin Badgers have the same record.
The Spartans have two very important conference games remaining this season, as they face-off against the Boilermakers and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Purdue should not be a problem for the high-powered Michigan State side. However, the Lions have picked
up their play in the second half of the season and their sound defensive game could cause some problems for the Spartans on offence.
Meanwhile, the Buckeyes play the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Michigan Wolverines, while the Badgers play the Wildcats and the Wolverines to end the season.
The Spartans will meet the Boilermakers at home on Saturday 20 November.
