  1. There is no one set standardized radar unit in Michigan.  Each agency will have there own.  From Eagle's to Kustom's.  From laser to 1970 era hand me downs.

Depending on the agency budget and size.

  2. The radar band in use in Michigan can vary, but is typically X, K or Ka. There is no set rule for what type of radar a state, city and/or municipal/county officer might use. If you are considering a radar detector, buy a GOOD one that detects them all.

If you are concerned about police laser, your only option is a laser jammer (also legal in most states). Most radar detectors will alert to police laser, but then you only have .2 seconds (2 tenths of a second) to adjust your speed. A laser jammer alerts to the laser and jams the speed reading, giving you time to check your speed before turning the laser jammer off.
