Swansea City midfielder, Michu, has cast light on his style of celebrating a goal, revealing that it was a posture that he had adopted in response to the taunts from Granada’s fans.
The Spanish International, who has already netted the ball four times in three games this season, celebrates his goal by bringing his right hand close to the ear, pretending as if he cannot hear the crowd.
While talking to the reporters during an interview, the midfielder revealed the reason behind his strange reaction after scoring a goal.
He explained that during his stay at Celta Vigo in the second division of Spanish football, he missed a penalty kick in a crucial match against Granada. After that, he moved to Rayo Vallecano. During his team’s warm up to a match against Granada, he was
constantly taunted by the Filipinos fans, reminding him of his missed spot-kick. However, he went on to score the decisive goal in the fixture, and gestured towards the crowd in response to their jeers.
“In the warm up to that game I could hear the Granada fans shouting 'Hey Michu, please take a penalty today`,” he said.
“But the game finished 1-0 in our favour and I scored the only goal. So when I scored, I just put my hand to my ear and listened to the Granada support, but they were quiet. It was just a bit of harmless fun with the Granada fans.”

“It`s a family club, just like Swansea. Everyone is very friendly and close,” he added.
