Mick Guinea and Viv Hayden lead 33rd Nacra National Championship standings: Day 2
Second day of the 33rd Nacra National Championship was filled with some thrilling competition and outstanding sailing shows. At the end of the day’s proceedings, favourites Mick Guinea and Viv Hayden were on top of the standings with impressive scores. The
pair finished Day 1 with three points on board after two races, while they took three bullets on the second day to stand tall with six points.
On the second day, the race committee had to postpone the first session races because there was no breeze to commence sailing. The committee hoped for a handsome breeze to fill in for the morning session but it did not happen, so they decided to wait for
the air to build up a bit.
After losing the morning session competitions, the organisers intended to feature three races in the afternoon session. Fortunately for the fleet, winds filled in the afternoon session and the races commenced. The breeze in the first race was quite ideal,
as it wafted around the race course from 10 to 12 knots. The winds became stronger after the first race and blew up to 18 knots in the next two races.
Mick Guinea and Viv Hayden on their Nacra in the F18 class were in good shape form the very beginning. They continued their dominance over the fleet on the second day too, compiling three bullets. Ullman Sails’ Dale Mitchell and Scott Sullivan hit the second
podium place with 14 points followed by Overdrive’s Luke McMullen and Lucas Cale on third place with 17 points.
