Mick Hennessy expects over 1.5 million viewers for Tyson Fury vs. Dereck Chisora bout – Boxing news
Mick Hennessy, who promotes Tyson Fury, is expecting a huge audience of over 1.5 million people for Fury’s upcoming fight against the current British Heavyweight Champion, Derek Chisora.
The current English Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury, will step in the ring against the Del Boy, Dereck Chisora in a two-belt British heavyweight title challenger on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Wembley Arena in London. This eagerly awaited fight, where
Chisora will be defending his Lonsdale belt and Commonwealth title, will be shown live on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom and on Integrated Sports pay per view in United States.
The sporting giant Sky Sports could have been an excellent option but Hennessy brought the bout to Channel 5, which will give a free access to all of the fans in UK. Hennessy believes this will create a solid fan base for his fighter and will lead him to
PPV in the future.
“I expect us to go above 1.5 million viewers and that this will lead Tyson on to pay-per-view appearances in the future on Channel 5's partner, Primetime,” Hennessy said.
Meanwhile the 23-year-old, Fury, who has won all of his 14 fights including 10 by the way of a knockout, also commented on his preparation. He said is taking very controlled diet these days so that he matches up with the pace of his opponent.
“I looked as if I'd trained as hard as I do. Now I'm only taking in water, meat, fruit and vegetables, I feel so much healthier and stronger. I also look more the part, which is important to me with the big TV audiences coming,” said Fury.
Fury, who has been sparring with Wladimir Klitschko, also believes in a few more years he will become the World Champion, as he said he has found the way and will succeed Wladimir.
He said, “No longer. I've found a way now and will make the sacrifices for the few years it takes me to succeed Wladimir as the world champion.”
