Mick McCarthy wants to ban Wolverhampton Wanderers players from using Twitter
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager, Mick McCarthy has gone on to state that he wants his players to use Twitter at a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bare-c7300 minimum, or try and avoid using it altogether.
The manager feels that there are ample drawbacks to using Twitter and he just doesn’t see why everyone wishes to waste ample time on the website.
McCarthy now feels that it is high time for him to start taking serious action over the use of Twitter, mainly because the players don’t keep a check on what they say on it.
McCarthy is quoted to have said: "Players are going to get themselves into trouble over Twitter, I can tell. I can't ban it and I'm not going to try. I've had that discussion today.”
"We are in the process of educating them, having a media law firm coming in to speak to the players about it."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 suffered a serious drawback due to Twitter, in regards to the signing of Steve Sidwell. The midfielder was reported to be undergoing a medical at the club and with that information leaked to the world, Fulham decided to sweep in and steal the player from right under the club’s nose.
McCarthy later went on to highlight this drawback of the service, as he added: "I think what really should highlight that is we had http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 game here last season.
"Some twit tweeted it and it became common knowledge. Steve is on the running machine here and having a fitness test the following day and his agent gets a call from Mark Hughes and he goes and signs for Fulham. “
From the looks of things, McCarthy is quite serious about his comments regarding Twitter. The manager seems to be on a mission to rid his players from leaking out information to the world, before it is supposed to and to create an overall secretive environment at the club.
Initially, it seems like the manager might just be overreacting a bit. However, once we focus in on why the manager wants to take action, it is hard not to agree with him.
Time and time again, players have found themselves in hot water regarding their comments and should he ban the medium for them to do so, he would end up protecting his team. At the same time, with the Sidwell situation in mind, it would be guaranteed that no information would be leaked and the team would be able to do, whatever it is they want to do, behind closed doors.
