Mickey Arthur appointed as new Australian Head Coach - Cricket News Update

Cricket Australia's restructuring after the Argus Review, has reached its final stages with the appointment of the new Head Coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969
The former South African coach will resume his duties with the Aussie national team in the upcoming series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in the two-test match series, starting from December 1st.
This now effectively puts an end to the detailed hunt of the head position, with Arthur being approached ahead of the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-Masson-Moody-c93654.
The 43-year-old had been working in the Australian system as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861, and shown great determination and desire to overhaul their domestic setup. He will now use that knowledge to ensure success with the Kangaroo national team, which has fallen considerably over the past 12 months.
"I am honoured and privileged to have another chance to coach an international team, particularly a team of the ilk of Australia," Arthur said. "I think I bring a fresh, unblinkered eye to the role after plotting against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 when coaching South Africa, and having now worked within the Australian system with the Warriors.”
With the Argus recommendations pinpointing the frailties in cricket Australia, the new coach will now also be on the selection panel and work alongside the likes of skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robert-John-Inverarity-c85980 to make sure that the best talent is selected.
This however also means an end to his association with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865, and also his involvement with   Perth Scorchers for the upcoming KFC Big Bash League.
Arthur previously coached his native country http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 from a period between 2005 and 2010 and helped them to claim their first away series win against Australia.
His longer term goal will be to bring the Down Under giants to their former glory, which saw them winning 3 World Cups in a row. Stability in the longer version is a also bigger agenda and Arthur himself, is confident of bringing success to his new role.
"Australia has an abundance of cricket talent and I am confident the talent is there to ensure Australia is successful," added the new head coach.
His contract runs until the World Cup 2015, which will be staged in Down Under (co hosted by NZ).
