http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 still optimistic about the Brisbane Test – Cricket News Update
Australia’s coach, Mickey Arthur, is still optimistic that his side can win the first Test of the three-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at Brisbane but understands that his bowlers will have to be at the top of their game on day 3
to get rid of two modern-day greats, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HM-Amla-c1557.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GC-Smith-c1473 won the toss on day one of the match and had no hesitation in opting to bat first on a batting paradise at the GABA. His batsmen lived up to the expectations and posted a very healthy total of 255 runs for the loss of just
two wickets by stumps on the first day, thanks to a superb third-wicket partnership of 136 unbeaten runs between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamisi-Abdallah-c61368 and Kallis.
The second day of the Test has been washed out due to rain, with most of the experts predicting a draw in the series’ initial encounter as the pitch is heavily in favour of the batsmen.
Arthur understands that the visitors have an edge in the match and was all praise for the seasoned duo, Amla and Kallis. The coach is expecting his fast bowlers to deliver the goods with the second new ball; otherwise, the South Africans
are likely to dominate the proceedings.
Amla is currently number two in the ICC’s Test Batsmen Rankings; whereas, Kallis is at number four.
"No doubt we can still win. South Africa do have the whip hand, but Test cricket changes in an hour. They aren't number two and three in the world for nothing. They are class players - if you are not on the money all the time (with the ball), they will punish
you," Arthur expressed.
The mentor still has immense faith on his players’ abilities and believes that the Kangaroos can make a comeback in the match, if they play up to their potential. Arthur thinks that the fans may still witness a result in this match, although there was no
play possible on day two.
"One disastrous session, one disastrous hour, can lead to a Test win or a Test defeat,” the Aussie coach added. "We've got to go out and do the basics well, to give ourselves the chance to get a result.”
