Pakistan Cricket Board’s hunt for a foreign national coach continues as the South African all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969, refused from accepting the role.
Well placed sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board have confirmed that Arthur was contacted by the board through his agent, who on Saturday, made it clear to the board that his client was not interested in taking over as Pakistan coach.
Arthur, the 43-year-old former first class cricketer and coach of South African national team is presently coaching a domestic team of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and according to the agent, he is very much satisfied with his present coaching position in the domestic circuit
"The agent for Arthur turned down the offer from the outset," a PCB source told the media reporters on Saturday.
PCB’s quest for a new head coach started after former Pakistan pacer and captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193, stepped down from the coaching position after Zimbabwe's tour in September, citing family and health problems.
The source also revealed that two other foreign candidates shortlisted for the position have also been removed from the list of candidates by the board. The two candidates were reportedly http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dermot-Alexander-Reeve-c53787.
The sources said that the board is now considering appointment of specialist coaches for all the three departments of the game.
"Dean Jones ad Dermot Reeve are no longer in the run,” said the PCB official. “The PCB apparently has had a change of plan and is now looking at hiring specialist coaches for batting, fielding and bowling instead of hiring a head coach," he added further.
Pakistan Cricket Board had last week advertised the above mentioned coaching positions on its official website, seeking application from interested candidates no later than November 18.
"The new Chairman, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 appears more inclined to favour the theory of having specialist coaches working with the team and one strong administration manager instead of having just one head with support staff," said the source.
The Pakistan cricket team is presently busy in a neutral venue series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595 has been appointed as the interim coach of the team.
