The newly appointed Australian coach, Mickey Arthur, has said that the national side needs to undergo an extensive rebuilding process and it could take years to get back to the top.
However, the South African - who was appointed as the head coach of Kangaroos last week - said that if the Aussies kept giving performances like their recent tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, then they can once again rule the perch of International cricket in a year
or two.
"We have to be realistic," said Arthur while talking to the media reporters on Tuesday. "But if we keep chipping away, in a year or two we could be top of the tree again,” he added further.
When asked about the deadline, the former Proteas mentor said it could take until his four-year tenure with Cricket Australia ends after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2015.
"I guess it (deadline) is the length of my contract, which is until the end of the World Cup,” said the South African, who is the first ever foreign coach hired by the Cricket Australia.

"That will be after back-to-back Ashes series, a Twenty20 World Cup and a 50-over World Cup. Then you will know exactly where we are at. Have some patience with the team but also embrace the excitement of the young talent," he added further.
Australia’s devastating home Ashes series loss in 2010-11 prompted the board to carry out a major overhaul and appointment of Arthur as first ever foreign coach has finally completed the renovation process.
Thursday’s Gabba Test between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 will be Arthur’s first assignment as the Aussie mentor. Exposing young Australian talent will be the top priority of the South African during his stint with the Kangaroos.
In the first phase, at least three Aussie youngsters are likely to make their Test debuts at Brisbane’s Gabba stadium this Thursday, and the new coach was hopeful his rotation policy will increase the bench strength.
"We want to build a sustainable squad. With the amount of cricket we play, it is impossible to have 15 players," said Arthur.

"If by the end of the summer we can bolster our squad from 15 guys capable of playing international cricket at any given time to a squad of 20 to 25, then Australian cricket is going to be in a really healthy state,” he added further.
