Mickey Arthur wants to see Patrick Cummins in Australian Test side – Cricket News Update
Former South African coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 has praised Australian newest prodigy, Patrick Cummins and feels that the pacer should be included in the Test team to face Proteas.
It has been a spectacular rise for the 18-year-old, who was initially selected in the Kangaroo’s T20 and 50-over games squad for their trip to face http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. After playing the first T20, he came in for praise and his reputation grew further when he bowled
a 2-wicket maiden in the second T20, to end the series with five scalps.
Apart from the raw pace, the youngster showed the added application of adapting to the shorter version of the game, using variations to restrict a strong Proteas line-up. With him now slated to perform in the ODI arena, the selectors have also awarded the
player a place in the Test team as well.
Arthur was impressed by Cummins when he first saw him bowl against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739, it must be selected in the Kangaroo team when they play their opponents in the opening
Test match.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins has been fantastic," Arthur told ESPNcricinfo. "I think he should get a spot in the Test. If he's fit you've certainly got to play him. If you're good enough, you're old enough. I think he's going to be exceptional. He mixes it up, uses his
variations.
"I think the best attack for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 and whichever spinner they decide to play.”
It is expected that Harris and Johnson will spearhead the pace attack, which means that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Trent-Copeland-c2709 and Cummins will be vying for the third-seamer’s place in the national team.
Copeland made his debut in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 recently and impressed with good line and length bowling. However, with him predominantly bowling medium-pace, his place in the side will be under questioning considering the fast pace nature of the South African pitches,
where Cummins’ speed will come in very handy.
The first test of the tour starts on the 9th of November.
