http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 warns triumphant Australia against complacency in West Indies – Cricket News Update
Head coach, Mickey Arthur has warned an upbeat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 series, saying the conditions in Caribbean are quite different to those Down Under.
Australia come into the series at the back of an exhilarating 4-0 home Test series win over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 followed by a convincing Commonwealth Bank series victory and must be high on confidence. However, Arthur, who took over as Australia coach in November last year, warned the side not to get carried away by the triumphant summer at home.
"There's three things we really need to guard against," said Arthur speaking to the media reporters after the Aussies arrived in St Vincent on Sunday, March 11, 2012 for a six-week tour of the West Indies.
"One is attitude and complacency because we've come off a really good summer so we need to guard against that,” the visiting coach added further.
The other two challenges Arthur is paying attention to ahead of the Windies series are, the Caribbean conditions and an unknown opposition, as most of the players in the West Indies squad will be playing Australia for the first time. Arthur admitted that the conditions in West Indies are very different to those they have been playing in all summer, and urged the players to adapt to the conditions “very, very quickly”.
"Our preparation time is going to be so important to us. We can't compromise on our preparation time," added the South African.
Regular Australian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 will lead the side. Arthur was happy with the way Watto has been leading the side.
"Shane's been really good. He has been outstanding," said Arthur. "I think he's led very well, he's led with authority which has been really good. I think he's almost performed above expectation in that area which is great."
During the month and a half long itinerary, the Kangaroos will play Windies in five One Day Internationals, two T20 Internationals and three Test matches. The One Day series gets underway on Friday, March 16, 2012, at Arnos Vale Cricket Ground, St. Vincent. The next two ODIs of the series will be played at the same venue on March 18 and 20 before the two outfits will move to St. Lucia to play the last two One-Dayers at Beausejour Cricket Ground, St. Lucia.
