Mickey Bey knocks out Alejandro Rodriguez in fourth round – Boxing news
The American national Featherweight contender, Mickey Bey managed a fourth round knockout decision over the 23-year-old Alejandro Rodriguez in their eight-round competitive bout for 133.25 lbs on Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio,
Texas.
From the start, the Mexican national Lightweight contender, Rodriguez looked struggling against the 28-year-old, Orthodox stance Bey.
Bey dropped Alejandro ‘Soma’ Rodriguez down to the floor a couple of times during their brutal competition. Firstly, Rodriguez went down to the floor in the second round and then again in the fourth round when he was not able to stand on his feet to take
that bout to the final round. The time was 2:10 of the fourth round when the referee called the bout off raising Bey’s hand as the winner of that competition.
Bey won his 17th consecutive fight against Rodriguez on Friday. He has proved to be a terrific fighter for other contenders in the Super Featherweight division since he joined boxing as a profession. He has never been defeated by anyone in his
career. Bey won all of his fights except for only one draw in his career which he faced in his second last fight against Jose Hernandez in February 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rodriguez faced the fourth and third consecutive loss of his career after getting defeated by Bey at the Freeman Coliseum. Rodriguez performed well in early days of his professional career. He turned professional winning a first round knockout decision against
the 26-year-old Mexican Super Featherweight contender Carlos Hernandez Mejia in their 4-round bout at the Coliseo Olimpico de la UG in Jalisco, Mexico in 2009.
Rodriguez faced the first ever loss of his career after winning the first four consecutive fights, when he lost the decision against the Light Welterweight contender, Jose Mendoza at the Coliseo Olimpico de la UG in Jalisco, Mexico in 2010.
