Micro SD card w/ SD adapter doesn't work on camera?

I have a nikon coolpix s9 and it says:

WARNING: CARD CAN NOT BE READ!

what do i do! i have the micro in the sd adapter and it fits and all..

  1. Try going to the menu on your camera and format the card.
