Micro-phone help, i can hear through pc but not on recording !?

Question

I have plugged the microphone in , MicLin/ Im .

I can hear my self through the pc and i cant on recording !

I have vista by the way any ones help at all it would be a great help !

Two possible problems I can think of.

1) The type of microphone you are using Could be Carbon, Electro Magnetic, Piezoelectric, etc..

2) The settings.
