Question:

MicroSD Card problem?

Whenever I put music on my microSD card it only fills it up about half way then I get a message "cannot copy ______: The directory or file cannot be created."

It's a 2GB Polaroid MicroSD.

Is it a problem with the card or the way I'm putting music on it?

I just drag and drop into the card's directory.

On my phone it shows it still has a bunch of empty space.

  1. You could be having permission issues with file transferring/coping.  Make sure all of the music you are trying to copy is in the same folder first, and you have permissions for full control of that folder.  If this does not work, it might be that as your PC caches space on the SD card, it might run into a file that is too large.  If you are attempting to copy 1GB to a SD that holds 2GB and this still happens, one of your file names could also be too long.  SD cards are formatted with FAT and most PC's are NTFS and FAT formats have a smaller limitation on file names.

  2. You need to format the Card
