Question:

Microchipping?

Does anyone know approximately how much it costs to get animals microchipped? I have a dog who is already microchipped but I would like to get my three cats chipped as well. Has anyone recently gotten their cat microchipped? Would you recommend it?

  1. I definitely recommend it.

Prices will vary.  Our area charged ~$30.00 but sometimes the shelters will promote this for almost free or a donation. Some clinics will offer special deals in conjunction with other services you may be having done at that time. You just need to call around and ask.

I do want to remind everyone that the chip will not work if YOU do not take the time to register your pet after it is done.  I can not tell you how many clients I had that forgot to do this, or moved and did not change their information with the registry.

Otherwise -  I believe it is a great idea.    :)

  2. Again, depends where you live. I work for a Cat Sanctuary and we charge £12 for microchipping.

  3. All depends on where you go i got my 3 cats done for £15 each they got a new micro-chip thats out that takes their temperature too.

  4. it depends on where you live, if you tell us at least what country your from then we could help better.

  5. try the local animal shelters, humane societies, and pet stores. they are low cost and often have a scheduled weekend sometimes for discounted vet care .
