We have a lot of microfilm and microfiche files that we have stored away, I undertstand these can be converted to electronic format. Has anyone had this done before and is the quality worthwhile for the effort? I know some companies offer this service but have no idea of how fast it can be done and to what quality?

  1. Microfilm and microfiche are generally a pre 2000 storage method and yes many companies are converting these to electronic format now.

The quality is usually as crisp as the originals depending on the company and software/hardware they use.

http://www.pearl-scan.co.uk is a company who specialise in this area for quality. That site has the extensive info your looking for.

Pricing wise it is priced per film but Im sure its no more than £50 per 35mm microfilm for example.

  2. any reprographic company can carry out this.  We had all ours done within a week - hundreds of drawings onto disc.  Cant recall the cost tho.... go onto yell and it will do a nationwide search as im not sure where you are based
