Question:

Microsoft Service Pack 3 - Help!?

My PC just automatically downloaded the official Service Pack 3 for XP from Microsoft, and I installed it, only to find it's deleted IE7 from my computer entirely.

I click on the old IE shortcut and instead of opening the browser, it opens the "properties" of the shortcut...

That doesn't seem right?

Should I be worried? I can use Firefox, sure, but I'd like to know what happened!

  1. The desktop shortcut may have been corrupted.

First delete the shortcut. Then go to Start, All Programs and look for Internet Explorer. Right click on it, go to Send To and select Desktop from the droplist. This will create a new IE shortcut for you. Hopefully it will resolve the problem.
