Microsoft Train Simulator

Question

I have a fairly new privately built computer that I use for FSX mostly. I found an old CD for MSTS and couldn't get it to work. I purchased a new copy of MSTS and it won't work either.

After I install it and click on any of the ways to start it, it takes about a minute and comes up with an error message saying something like "unable to continue do to software problems. Can anyone help me with this?
