Microsoft Word Typing Problem?

When i try to delete phrases I can't, and i have to backspace every letter. How do i fix this problem?

  2. This is a Word option setting.  Here's how to fix it:

    Word versions prior to Word 2007:

    1.Click on the Tools->Options menu item.

    2.Click the Edit tab.

    3.Under Editing Options, check the check box next to "Typing replaces selection".

    4.Click OK.

    In Word 2007:

    1. Click the Office button in the upper-left corner.

    2. Click the Word Options button.

    3. Click the Advanced tab.

    4. Under Editing, check the check box next to "Typing replaces selected text".

    5.Click OK.

    That should do it.

  3. check at the bottom of the screen for an icon saving "ovr" you may have accidently set overtype clicking on this icon should fix it you may need to open a blank document then click "ovr" then save before closing
