Ok, I have two problems with Microsoft Word:

1. I set the default font to Arial, but if I open up a new window, it goes back to Times New Roman. How do I fix this?

2. The font/size change area on my standard toolbar is gone. I have to go the Format tab and click Font whenever I want to change something. How do I fix that?

  1. 1. Go into a totally new word document and go to Font and select Arial and hit the default option and hit yes.. Close the document and then open a new one and see if it works.. Sometimes if you do it in a document you have been working on it just doesn't work....

    2. Tools > Customize> Toolbars Tab> Uncheck the Formatting Toolbar and then recheck it and hit ok....

    Hope This Helps!

  2. This answer is for Word 2003

To make your font a different default:

Click Format, Font, then make all of your font selections (font, size, etc), then look down at the bottom left hand corner of this screen and select "default", microsoft will prompt you "yes" or "no" to make them all this so select yes, and it will change the default.

Edit to add: did you create your blank document using the normal template? If you didn't, it will not save the default changes.
