Microsoft Zune 30gb unreadable, can't connect. Please help! 10 points

I just got my 30gb zune the other day and I'm having a problem with the connection. I downloaded the latest software version 2.5. Everytime I open the software and connect my zune it doesn't show on the software that it is already connected, all I can see is "to check your sync status,connect your zune". My zune isn't locked if that's what you think. And I can see the charging icon when it is connected to my computer. I already tried to restart my computer a couple of times same through with my zune but still nothing happens. I even tried to connect a usb reader for me to try if my computer is the problem and it can read my usb, how come my zune doesn't? I both tried the usb port on the side and at the back of my laptop. So what do you think is the problem? I will choose the best answer whoever can give me the solution of my problem. I will highly appreciate if you guys can help me. Please help.

Your Zune device is not detected by your computer or the Zune software

I would start by trying different ports and a different cable. I would also make sure that the device is firmly connected to the cable and the cable is firmly connected to the computer. Usually when mine is not detected by my computer it is because the cable is not making a complete connection with either the Zune or my computer.
